DSLR: The Fundamentals | Personal

May 17, 2013

There’s always been this part of me that has loved to explain things to people. I remember while I was in college how much I loved to talk to people about the financial markets and explain how to hedge against exchange rate risk or how the futures markets work…I loved to learn and I loved to pass that knowledge on to other people. It’s hard to explain, but I just get this incredible feeling of accomplishment when I’m able to convey something to someone in a way that helps them understand something that they never really understood before. I can’t get enough of it. And I have such a passion for the pursuit of great photography that once you get me started, I pick up speed fast and it’s tough to slow me down. Ever since I started thinking seriously about making a career out of photography, I was also thinking about how I could help others create better images as well.

When we started talking with Kimmy Howard about putting together a class for people wanting to learn how to use their cameras to the full potential, I was totally floored! This is something we have been dreaming about for a long time, and it’s all coming together now. For those of you who don’t know, Kimmy Howard is a super talented newborn photographer located in Indianapolis. She started her business after having her first child, and with three kids now, she knows how important it is to capture those special family memories. This class, DSLR: The Fundamentals, will focus on the basics of digital photography and how you can create better images by taking control of your camera settings instead of letting your camera do all of the thinking. Whether you realize it now or not, you are much smarter than your camera!

We will open up 20 seats for our August 24th class this coming Sunday night, May 19th, at 8:00 PM EST on the CLASS WEBSITE. The cost of the class will be $175 and it will run from 2:00-5:00 PM on August 24th, including a portion of teaching followed by some hands on learning, and ending with interactive practice outside so that you can put all you’ve learned into action! We are so excited and truly hope to see you all there!
