This is a wedding that we wanted to feature toward the end of 2011, but with all the craziness of holidays and traveling were unable to. I’m super excited to be sharing it with you all now, though!
Ty and Holly met during that ever exciting first week of classes freshman year of college, but who would have known that just a few short years later they would be embarking on this exciting new life together. They saw each other at events and get togethers from time to time during their first two quarters at OSU, but it wasn’t until Spring quarter, as the campus was bursting into bloom, that they actually got to spend one on one time together.
As fate would have it, Ty and Holly had signed up for the same Communications 200 class, so Ty did the gentlemanly thing and asked if Holly would mind him walking her to class. Sure thing! And after that first walk together, both of them knew that the other one was an incredibly special person. The first thing that struck them about each other was the sense of humor that they shared, which had them laughing constantly! Holly says that Ty instantly put her at ease and made her feel like she could completely be herself with him, which had never happened with any other person before. With each and every walk to class, they grew to like each other more and more. Ty claims he tried to make a few moves to ask Holly on a date, but she was completely oblivious to this and under the impression that he just thought of her as a friend.
When summer came round, they kept in touch, but weren’t sure exactly how the other felt. It was that summer that Ty told his best friend, Andrew, “Man, I met this girl at school. She’s awesome! Seriously, if she wanted to marry me today, I’d be more than ok with it.” However, after the summer came to a close and they returned to school, both found themselves on completely different pages. They lost touch and life just kind of pulled them apart for a little bit. A few months down the line, they ran into each other at the campus gym and both realized they never really stopped having feelings for the other. So they decided to meet up for ice cream at Graeter’s and just take a stroll along the Scioto River, and that was the first of many dates leading up to one that was of particular importance.
One evening in November of 2010, after taking Holly out to dinner, Ty suggested they go get some ice cream. And really, who can resist ice cream?! Right down the street from the ice cream shop was a tiny park that they had nicknamed “Our Spot” because they loved to go there and just spend time together and dream together. So once they got to the ice cream shop and before they had gone in Ty said, “Hey before we go in, let’s go to our little spot,” to which Holly agreed. Once they were there Ty had Holly close her eyes while he talked about them and the future, and when she opened her eyes he was down on one knee asking her to marry him! After freaking out a little bit, Holly regained her composure just enough to say “Yes!” Ty slipped on the ring and asked, “Want to go tell your roommates?” Holly said yes, thinking “They are going to be so shocked!” But what Holly didn’t know was that there were about 50 of their closest friends and family anxiously waiting for them to get back so they could surprise her!
Ty and Holly, you guys have been truly wonderful to us and we thank you so much! Your love for one another is something so tangible and it was wonderful being there to witness your wedding.
Thank you to everyone that made this wedding amazing!
