Kaitie was one of the bridesmaids at Marybeth and Bobby’s wedding back in 2011, and we were so excited when she contacted us about photographing her wedding! We were also thrilled when she suggested doing their engagement session at Dawes Arboretum near Newark, OH, as it is a place that they enjoy going together. Dawes has been a place we’ve been wanting to shoot ever since Amanda and I had a picnic there together while we were engaged, so it was fun to go back with Kaitie and Zac. It was the perfect time of year to do it too, with so many of the trees in bloom and a warm breeze blowing!
We started out outside the beautiful old farmhouse that served as the Dawes’ country home back when Beman Dawes and his wife Bertie first purchased the property in 1917, before they began the process of turning it into the beautiful arboretum that it is today. These two are so cute together, and Zac is always finding a way to make Kaitie laugh. They made shooting their engagement session so much fun.
Next stop…the Japanese garden area, one of Kaitie and Zac’s favorite spots, with it’s gorgeous fluffy white cherry blossoms.
Love, love, love this shot!
To end out the evening, Kaitie and Zac enjoyed a cute little picnic, complete with some of their favorite snacks, on a blanket that was made by Zac’s grandmother and great-grandmother. As the sun began to fall lower in the sky, they sat together on that blanket and read some of their favorite entries from the matching journals they have kept while they have been dating.
Kaitie and Zac, thank you so much for asking us to be a part of this exciting time in your lives. We cannot wait to photograph your wedding here very soon!
