Megan and Chris love Jesus. From the beginning, they made a decision to keep their relationship centered on their common faith and devotion to Christ, which was the first time either of them had experienced a relationship like that, and they believe it has made all the difference in the world.
Megan grew up in Texas, and Chris in Ohio. As fate would have it, they both decided to attend The Ohio State University, but that wasn’t where they met. While in school, they started going to Veritas Community Church, where they both say they found a community of people sharing life together in a way that they had never experienced before and where they experienced the Lord in ways that they had been searching for. Wanting to get more involved, they both happened to attend the same small group meeting in October of 2010 and caught first glimpses of each other. Not long after, Megan asked Chris to have coffee with her, and thus began a string of what Megan wanted to be coffee dates, but what Chris thought to be casual conversations. Eventually, after a few months of these coffee dates, Chris summoned the courage to tell Megan that he wanted to pursue her in a relationship and eventually marriage. This was a big step for both of them and for their first true date, they went to the lovely establishment called Cuzzins frozen yogurt and just spent time talking together. It was in the following April that Megan told her mom that she was going to marry Chris, she didn’t know when, but she knew he was the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with. Although that summer was a difficult one, they grew a lot through it and God started to open their eyes to the possibility of marriage in the near future.
As time went on and they became more and more sure that they were meant to get married, Chris began planning. In November he purchased a ring, and then he waited. Waited for the right moment. And on the night of January 7th, exactly a year after he had asked to pursue Megan in a relationship, Chris found that moment he was waiting for. They had gone to a wonderful Thai restaurant in the Short North called Basil for dinner, and then walked a couple blocks over to Goodale Park. And there at Goodale Park, in the middle of a gazebo, he asked her to marry him.
Eventually Megan and Chris would like to live in the downtown area of Columbus while continuing to be involved at Veritas, and someday raise a family…but the last part won’t be happening for a while, so no worries everybody!
Megan and Chris are one of the most relaxed and fun couples we’ve met, and their wedding reflected that. After starting the day at Ambushed Salon in the Short North, time just seemed to float gently by. No rush and not a care in the world. It was refreshing and enjoyable. They had planned out their day so that they could enjoy time with their closest friends and family without feeling crunched for time, which is wonderful! One of my favorite things that Megan and Chris worked into their wedding was a ceremonial foot washing. It was truly moving, the gentle display of servanthood to each other, and their love for each other and for those around them was further evidenced by the smiles, hugs, and conversations shared.
Megan and Chris, we don’t take for granted the time that we have had with you guys and we wish you all the best as you start your new life together. Thank you so so much for allowing us to have the honor of documenting your heartwarming wedding!
